Delicious Desserts Made Using Ghee To Enjoy This Summer

Summer sunshine can feel quite rare in the UK, which is why many of us want to make the most of it when it is sunny outside. One of the ways we love to do this is with food, whether it’s throwing a barbecue, having an afternoon tea party, or indulging in refreshing desserts.

Here are some of our favourite puddings to enjoy during the summer, all of which are made using the healthy butter alternative, organic ghee

Frozen strawberry dessert

Guests will find it difficult to resist this frozen strawberry dessert, made with frozen strawberries, lemon juice, egg whites, sweetener, coconut sugar, pecans, oat flour, and ghee.

The recipe involves making a nutty crumb and filling it with a blended strawberry mixture and freezing until it is perfectly set. The ghee and egg whites help it to set, so it is ready to slice once it is frozen.

Indian halva

Many people who have tried halva have had the Middle Eastern version, made from sesame seed paste tahini and sweetened with sugar, nuts and vanilla extract. However, the South Asian version is slightly different, as it contains semolina and plenty of spices.

A traditional recipe includes semolina, ghee, sugar, cardamom, raisins, water, cashews and almonds, and it is made by cooking all the ingredients on the hob until it has turned into a thick mixture. This is when the hot pudding is ready to serve.

Egyptian butter cookies

Although summer desserts are traditionally cold, creamy ones like pavlova or ice-cream, you will find that many hot countries still enjoy dry sweet treats, particularly biscuits.

These butter cookies are from Egypt and once you enjoy one, you’ll find it hard to put the plate down. The three-ingredient biscuits consist of ghee, icing sugar and flour. Simply mix them together until it has formed a soft dough and then put the mixture in the fridge for 20 minutes.

After this, make small balls and bake for between 12 and 15 minutes until slightly golden. They are ready to eat once they have cooled down, but don’t expect any to be left, as they’ll be gone in a flash.
